Lore Lindu National Park : Tourist Information

Lore Lindu Archeology Lore Lindu National Park has a variety of ecosystem types.  There are lowland tropical forest, sub-montane forests, montane forests all with different species composition. Many Plants species found in tropical forests include Eucalyptus deglupta, Pterospermum celebicum, Cananga odorata, Gnetum gnemon, Castanopsis argentea, Agathis philippinensis, Philoclados hypophyllus, medicinal plants, and rattan. 

Sub-alpine forests in national parks are located above the altitude of 2000 meters above sea level. State forest is often shrouded in mist. 

In the Lore Lindu national park there are various kinds of animals. Consist of 117 kinds of mammals, 88 species of birds, 29 species of reptiles, amphibians and 19 species. More than 50 percent of the animals found in this area is endemic. Tonkean Monkey (Macaca tonkeana tonkeana), pig deer (Babyrousa babyrussa celebensis), tarsier (Tarsius diannae and T. pumilus), polecat (Ailurops ursinus Strigocuscus celebensis furvus and callenfelsi) , maleo (Macrocephalon maleo), Sulawesi toad (Bufo celebensis), Sulawesi civet (Macrogalidia musschenbroekii musschenbroekii), Sulawesi rat (Rattus celebensis), kangkareng Sulawesi (Penelopides exarhatus), gold snake (Elaphe erythrura), and endemic fish in the Lake Lindu (Xenopoecilus sarasinorum). 


Wakatobi Marine National Park

peta_wakatobi Wakatobi Marine National Park located remotely off the southeast of Sulawesi. Most of the Park consist the Tukang Besi islands (Kaledupa, Togea and Binongko Island. The island are difficult to reach, but they offered superb snorkeling and diving, a blaze corals and marine life, isolated beaches and stunning landscapes.

The only place with tourist facilities is Hoga Islands. Island Garden Resort has four bungalow in Hoga. Is is also possible to arrange informal homestay in the island. Spme basic snorkeling equipment is available, you recommended to bring your own gear.

Operation Wallacea, organizes volunteer programs for marine conservation. The public are welcome, but trips must be prebooked and are expensive. The organization has a study centre in Hoga Island and may be able to hook people up with a homestay during busy periods. Be aware that prices for charter boats and the like are higher on Hoga, as the locals have got used to working with Operation Wallacea.

Other tourism option in Wakatobi is Wakatobi Dive Resort on Onemobaa Island. This ultra expensive hideaway offers beautiful bungalow accommodation and one of the most celebrated house reefs in Indonesia.

Update : Wakatobi Island now can be reach from Kendari with Susi Air regular flight.
